Job evaluation guide


Job evaluation definition: this is a process of analyzing the kinds and amount of resources necessary (generally time, money and labour) to accomplish a certain work. The goals include getting a correct vision on work scope, methods of managing, qualification and skills necessary, and obtaining a correct appraisal of how long it will take and how much money it will cost. It is important to define worth of certain job or working position for organization. There are different methods, and each company may have its own customized methods explained in their corporate guide. For example, there is a ranking method that allows appointment ranks to jobs from the highest to lowest, in order of their value or merit to the organization. Besides this method, there is job evaluation point method where jobs are expressed in terms of their key factors, so points are assigned to each factor after prioritizing them in order of importance. Moreover, there are other methods including more advanced Hay method that is an analytical factor-based way to measure the relative impact and size of jobs within an organization.
