Daily time management



 
 

Daily time management is an important work administration approach that helps people to build their effectiveness gradually, not by making some drastic changes in their work style, but with accepting them bit by bit in order of obtaining better attitudes in planning their business time. As employee becomes a more sophisticated planner, he can successfully perform bigger pieces of work within the same periods of time, because his personal effectiveness qualitatively increases. In spite of the fact that Internet and bookshops are full of materials dedicated to d tips and methods (like GTD for example), it is not easy yet to implement them in an organized manner when we speak about business companies and organizations. There are two main ways to establish better attitudes on enterprise:

  • Centralized way – it is about delegating correctly created daily schedules from superiors to subordinates. This method implies that people taking higher positions in managerial hierarchy are more competent in questions of time management so they assume the most part of work planning practice. According to this way, composing definite time-tables for personnel is a prerogative of their direct supervisor while he gets his plan from a higher superior, and so on. This way is probably a less costly one as it needs only several people to be qualified in time management, while other workers just do what they are told to do, and that’s why it is a less effective way, because mismanagement of one person can lead to inefficiency of many.   
  • Diversified way – this methodology requires the most of specialists in a workgroup to possess a good level of managerial skills. This way means that every employee in organization works as an individual planner who has enough of managerial authority to plan his business time and manage his own worksheets without strong direction from the supervisor who delegates him a general load of tasks and duties, while employee decides how to deal with them on his own. This method is effective as it helps to eliminate inflexibility and vulnerability of the centralized method, however, it is more expensive as requires obtaining a proper level of time management culture in business team (for example employees need to be taught via series of daily time management trainings).

Both of these two methods can be easily computerized with a help of special time management software. Such programs can be used to delegate job sheets in a centralized manner as it is explained in the first method, and also in a diversified individual work management manner as the second method says.
