Employee Underperformance is a workplace episode when an employee doesn’t objectively meet certain requirements identifying a good or sufficient level of performance in terms of his or her job, quality of working results, productivity, and other aspects which can be measured and qualified. Employee Underperformance is a kind of employee misconduct which decreases an employee’s efficiency and effectiveness, making this employee less useful and valuable to a company.
Cases of employee underperformance can vary in terms of their causes, character and severity of losses they incur to an organization. The major reasons causing underperformance are:
- Lack of employee effort (can be improved through rising discipline and interest);

- Lack of employee talent (potential of an employee does not fit the job he or she is assigned to);
