Task classification is a method to differentiate and identify tasks according to some characteristics.
Task class is faceted and vast conception which meaning can vary depending on project details. Necessity for task classification may appear because of the need to achieve better manageability of tasks and there are a lot of task characteristics that can serve as a background for arranging a specific task class. For example activities in a company can be divided according to intuitive classification, into such task classes: managerial, technical, marketing, operational tasks etc, additionally tasks can be divided by duration (short-term or long-term), by priority (urgent or normal) and so on. In classic task management this way of classification can be called hierarchal task classification. Actually it is useful in the context of project management software systems where task classes can be used for better handling of tasks.
