Let your team be accountable for the end results


Project team becomes a good team when people do their best work and feel that they are accountable for the end results. It is better to focus the team on end results and build a team of professionals who clearly understand what is expected from them before they start working. There are two points a good project manager always remembers: the team members should do what they do perfectly, and they should be assigned to specific measurable results. Then, when project goes to an end, the project manager will be able to measure end results and conduct performance analysis.

If you are a project manager, you need to use software system to manage your team and performance.VIP Task Manager is a convenient task management system aimed to manage projects and assess team productivity. Scheduler view in VIP Task Manager allows to plan projects and set time measures for tasks. Before a project starts, you can plan out a set of tasks each team member should complete to meet the project goals. You can use Due Date and Estimated Time columns to schedule tasks. If needed, in Notes field each task can be specified with your instructions, directions and extra information a team member will use to perform his tasks. At the project closure phase you can use Custom Field feature to measure results and assess productivity.

Action plan:

  1. Start VIP Task Manager
  2. Go to Scheduler view to create a project schedule. Use Start Time and Finish Time columns to display tasks on the schedule
  3. Create and assign tasks to each team member. Each task can have such columns as Due Date, Start and Finish Time, Estimated Time and Actual Time. To measure end results and build KPIs, you can use Custom Field feature
  4. Export tasks to Excel or HTML file to get a report
 Set the list of responsibilities for each position of your staff
