Short overview of Legal department staff responsibilities

Department Manager
This is a person who represents the department, manages activities of legal staff and keeps control over departmental workflow.  Manager of Legal department holds meetings with upper management with purpose to provide legal advice on handling litigation and legal matters.  Manager develops and updates policies and procedures to meet legal requirements. This person also manages complex legal projects and reviews legal documentation.

Lawyer (Legal Advisor)
Legal Advisers play one of the most important roles in Legal department. They give advice on product development, marketing and promotions. For example, before marketing a new product, marketing manager often needs to talk with Legal department to discuss potential legal issues.  In order to give exhaustive legal advice, Department Manager charges lawyers with duties of examining legal issues and checking legislation points. Legal Assistant (Paralegal)
Legal assistants generally support the work of Lawyers in all fields of scheduling, holding preliminary meetings with clients, researching legal precedents, preparing everything required for court cases, and drafting legal briefs. Usually Legal Assistants do not possess any legal matter by themselves but have some experience in the field of law so they become eligible to assist Legal Advisor.
